Zhigang Xie

Mr. Zhigang Xie is a Partner at Fondee IP Law LLC, with over 20 years of experience in intellectual property law focusing on the mechanical and electromechanical sectors. He specializes in handling complex patent matters and advising on cross-border IP strategies between China and Europe.

His practice encompasses the entire lifecycle of patent protection. Mr. Xie's technical focus includes mechanical engineering, mechatronics, vehicle engineering, automatic control, robotics, optical lenses, and camera modules. He provides legal services ranging from patent drafting and prosecution to reexamination and invalidation proceedings. He also conducts Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) analyses and represents clients in patent litigation.

Mr. Xie joined the CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office in 2002, where he prosecuted over 1,600 patent applications. From 2012 to 2019, he practiced in Munich, Germany, serving as the Chief Representative and Patent Attorney for CCPIT's Munich Office, and subsequently leading the China Desk at KLUNKER IP. He joined Fondee IP as a Partner in August 2019 and concurrently serves as a consultant for the German firm Koelen Patent Firm (Shanghai Branch).

His representative clients include automotive manufacturers such as BMW, Audi, MAN, Skoda, Valeo, and TRW; engineering companies including Schaeffler, ZF, Knorr-Bremse, SKF, and Hilti; as well as domestic enterprises like the State Grid Corporation of China and Yantai Longyuan Power Technology.

Mr. Xie holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Manufacturing Technology and Equipment from Tongji University. He works in Chinese, English, and German.
